Professor Simon Draper leads a vaccine development programme, with a strong focus on malaria, antibody immunology and clinical trials. The Draper Group laboratory team is based at the Department of Biochemistry, forming part of a new hub for infectious disease and immunology research, with the clinical team based at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine at the Churchill Hospital. Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Trial Project Manager to support Professor Simon Draper and the clinical lead Dr Angela Minassian in the running of the malaria vaccine research programme at the Department of Biochemistry. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is keen to take on a leadership role within a fast-paced research group working at the cutting edge of translational vaccine research. The post holder will take responsibility for a portfolio of clinical vaccine studies in Africa and the UK, leading on study development, set-up and implementation. The successful candidate will use their extensive trial management experience to provide leadership and guidance to other members of the team, and will contribute to overall strategy of the clinical research programme and building our clinical portfolio.
Applicants should possess a degree in Medical or Life Sciences, should have extensive experience of working at a high level in clinical trial management and possess substantial specialist knowledge of the regulatory and ethical issues involved in running Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs). You will be a team player, with excellent people and time management skills and will be comfortable working interactively with colleagues at all levels. Prior experience of vaccine clinical trials and of undertaking clinical research in low and middle income countries is desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term post for up to 2 years in the first instance and is based at Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine, Churchill Hospital, Oxford.
This position is graded on the University’s Grade 8 scale, for which the salary range is £43,414 – £51,805 per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
