The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator will directly report to the Director, Wound Research Alliance (WRA), and the Center for Innovation in Restorative Medicine. Will collaborate with investigators and research staff to support the activities for the Department of Plastic Surgery, Wound Research Alliance, and the Center for Innovation in Restorative Medicine. This position is a senior-level clinical trial coordination and management position working on multiple investigative clinical trial projects. This position involves the trial operations of a high-volume research structure with plenty of room for growth and professional development. This senior position includes leading, training, and providing mentorship to junior research coordinators, conducting hands-on subject recruitment, evaluation and screening processes, sample transport and storage, quality management procedures, regulatory development and oversight, electronic database development, electronic data capture, entry, and maintenance of data integrity, coordination of all research study procedures, and preparation of reports for leadership review.

Critical skills include attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to dynamic job demands and shifting priorities, the ability to establish a strong rapport, and the ability to create and maintain trust in collaborative relationships. Interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are a must for effective interaction with subjects, families, multidisciplinary staff, and physicians both internal and external to the University. Applicants will demonstrate a strong track record in clinical trial management, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and a solid comprehension of regulatory compliance as it relates to the federal regulations and statutes for the execution of complex clinical trials. The candidate will be provided an opportunity to possess professional certifications (CCRC/CCRP) through an accredited institution if the candidate does not already possess them. Travel to local clinical sites will be necessary (reimbursed) a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.


Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 2-3 years solid clinical experience and must possess an intermediate level of research profession inclusive of 2-3 years solid experience in multi-trial coordination. 2-3 years clinical research trial experience preferred. Phlebotomy and IV access skills with some specimen processing experience preferred. Strong clinical expertise within a hospital clinical setting or research coordinator clinical trial experience and regulatory development/submission experience preferred. Experience within the UPMC /UPITT facilities strongly preferred. Some experience with budget development is preferred, or the ability to train on the job. Valid driver’s license.
