Senior Clinical Lecturer – Children’s Health Block Lead

We are looking to recruit a Children’s Health Block Lead for year 4 of our MB ChB Programme. The Block Leads will be part of the MBChB Programme Teaching and Learning Academic Team supporting the Year 4 Lead, in ensuring delivery of the Year 4 programme is to the highest standard. Block Leads should have a good working knowledge of the MBChB and will work closely with the Associate Academic Lead for Year 4 shaping and being actively involved in the continuous evaluation and improvement of the Year 4 programme. The Block Leads for Year 4 will be responsible for the academic content of their block. They will take responsibility for the creation and curation of content required for Year 4 within their block. This will involve, when necessary, the creation of materials to complement the programme. They will have responsibility for the case materials and will ensure that learning objectives are updated and specific. In addition they will be responsible for ensuring that their speciality content is assessed appropriately through writing OSCE stations and single best answer questions. They will be key members of the Year 4 emendation group with the assessment team. As representatives of their specialties they will be required to liaise with all placement supervisors in their respective block, acting as one of the key links between the MBChB programme and our ‘shop floor’ teachers.

They will assist in the delivery of the MBChB programme forming a key part of the leadership team and will work to enhance the experience for students by improving the quality of year 4 through the sharing and implementation of good practice.

You will be expected to be Practicing physician/surgeon with a primary medical qualification on the specialist register with a minimum of 2 years experience in the speciality and have evidence of leadership qualities with a track record of involvement in undergraduate or postgraduate medical education.
