Description

The job is located in coastal Northern California in the redwood region near the Oregon border. The job is focused on conducting Northern Spotted and Barred Owl surveys as required by Green Diamond’s Habitat Conservation Plan and other pre-harvest raptor surveys as required by the California Forest Practice Rules for Timber Harvest Planning and Operations.  You will be working 90% of the time in the field. The ideal candidate will have a 2 or 4 year degree and have some knowledge and experience in conducting owl or other types of raptor surveys.  Experience with sage grouse monitoring is very similar to what we do here at Green Diamond with remote night work, breeding observations and ATV use.  You will get plenty of job training prior to the start of the season.  Your safety is our number one priority so training includes all the safety aspects of the job too.

Qualifications

-AA or Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife, Forest Management, Natural Resources or closely related fields or equivalent work experience.
-General knowledge of terrestrial vertebrates.
-Current valid drivers license.
-Experience driving 4 wheel drive vehicle and ATV.
-Experience navigating using GPS, map and compass
