The Award Eligibility Determination (AED) system that GDIT is developing determines who is eligible for aid and assists in determining the amount of aid students can receive. AED will replace the legacy system and will receive FAFSA® data, receive FAFSA® match data from FSA and other federal agency systems, receive results, determine eligibility for federal aid, provide web services, and communicate data and outputs to other FSA systems for further analysis and reporting.GDIT’s implementation of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) emphasizes understands the need for compliance, and extensive traceability while providing an agile, lean systems, iterative environment for product development. On the AED Program, this will be accomplished by implementing the SAFe for Large Solutions model. This will progress from Requirement, to Epic, to Feature, to Story, to Release.How A Scrum Master Advisor Will Make An Impact:

  • Organize and facilitate SCRUM ceremonies: daily standups, Sprint Planning/Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews/Demos, and Retrospectives
  • Maintain JIRA and other information radiators for the teams
  • Lead the scrum team in moderate to high complexity work streams. Oversee scrum process and coach the teams on how to use scrum and Agile practices and methodology
  • Enable team to become self-organizing and self-managing to achieve its goals
  • Motivate teams to perform and ensure team members are collectively responsible for all aspects of the committed work (analysis, development, testing, documentation, etc.)
  • Identify, address, and communicate project risks, dependencies, and team impediments
  • Ensure the team’s “definition of done” is well defined on the story, sprint, and release levels
  • Facilitate productivity through discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Shield the team from external interferences
  • Assist with internal and external communication, and improving transparency
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised with an emphasis on problem solving
  • Assess the Scrum maturity of the team and coach the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team
  • Participate in Scrum of Scrum meetings to ensure cross-team collaboration and coordination of release plans and integration of testing activities
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including customers

Here is What You Will Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 5+ years related experience as a project team member
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Scrum Master certification CSM or PSM I,
  • SAFe Agilist or SAFe Practitioner
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Agile software development including coaching on agile methodologies, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience managing projects following Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming, and SAFe
  • Familiar with Agile values, principles, processes, and methods such as iterative and incremental development, continuous integration, test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, code refactoring, pair programming, and Scrum ceremonies
  • Experience working with customers in gathering requirements, modeling use cases, writing user stories and documenting business processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be effective at communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Moderate knowledge of the JIRA tracking tool
  • Energetic, goal oriented, proactive, innovative, hardworking, and patient

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiar with SAFe methodology
  • Experience on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
  • Some knowledge of development environments, platforms, and technologies
  • Well versed in a variety of agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean at a minimum)
  • Experience providing program, portfolio, and team level process, mentoring and coaching to senior leadership, portfolio managers and teams
  • Experience with ad-hoc coaching and mentoring techniques
