Applications are open for one Scientific Initiation Studentships, within the framework of project Streets4ALL (1801P.01142.1.01), PTDC/ECI-TRA/3120/2021, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC
Workplan: The candidate will undertake tasks related to the STREETS4AL project. Initially, an examination of the dynamic space allocation strategies outlined in the project will be conducted. Subsequently, a literature review will be performed on evaluating the effectiveness of public policies in sustainable urban mobility. The next step involves identifying stakeholders impacted by dynamic reallocation, including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, public transport users, commerce, local authorities, among others. For each stakeholder group, the candidate will pinpoint the primary impacts resulting from the studied solutions. Additionally, success indicators will be established to evaluate impacts from diverse perspectives for each stakeholder. To achieve this, the candidate will extensively characterize the case study, utilizing field data collection. This thorough analysis will serve to demonstrate the methodology’s applicability and validate success evaluation indicators. The culmination of this work will be the preparation of a preliminary scientific paper intended for publication in an international journal.
Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 3 months. It’s expected to begin in April/2024 and may be eventually renewed up to the maximum of 3 months.

Benefits
Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 601,12, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check

Selection process
Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: i) Curriculum evaluation; ii) experience in research in the field of environmental engineering, energy and transport (especially in urban mobility and active modes); iii) individual interview, with the respective weight of (i) 50%, (ii) 25% and (iii) 25%. During the interview, if a candidate does not evidence enough proficiency in English, the application will not be considered.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.
