Offer Description

Applications are open for 1 Scientific Initiation Studentship, within the framework of project SmartRetail (SMART RETAIL – Contrato 00018 – IST-ID) financed by national funds PRR (Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência – C645440011-00000062), through IAPMEI – Agência para a Competitividade e Inovação

Workplan: The grant will take place in the scope of the project SmartRetail. The goal is the implementation of computer vision and machine learning algorithms.

Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 4 months. It’s expected to begin in April 2024 and may be eventually renewed.

It is mandatory to formalize applications with the submission of the following documents:

i) B1 Form – Fellowship application (https://ist-id.pt/concursos/bolsas/ );

ii) Curriculum Vitae;

iii) proof of enrollment at a Master or Integrated Master;

v) declaration on honour that the applicant does not exceed with this contract, including the possible renovations, an accumulated period of one year in this type of studentship, continuously or with interruptions, and has not held any other fellowship directly or indirectly funded by FCT.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is 601,12€, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following i) Curriculum evaluation, ii) Programming skills and iii) Computer Vision/Machine Learning experience with a respective weight of 50%/30%/20%. There may be a possible individual interview, eliminatory in nature, to be used only if the previous selection method is not enough for a decision.

 

Composition of the selection Jury: Professor João Paulo Costeira, João Pedro Gomes and Doctor Manuel Marques

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification.
