SCIENCE COMMUNICATION ADMINISTRATORBiological Engineering (part-time, 50%), to provide a leadership opportunity in science communication as part of the MIT Superfund Research Program (MIT SRP) , directed by Professor Bevin Engelward. The MIT SRP is supported by the NIH National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. This exciting program brings together researchers from diverse disciplines to find solutions to pressing problems related to public health. The overarching goal of the program is to protect human health from hazardous chemicals. Communicating science to members of the program, to other researchers, to the NIH, and to the public is of core importance to the MIT SRP. The main responsibilities of the science communications administrator will include composing text for a wide variety of contexts/audiences, playing a leadership role in composing text for the annual progress reports, managing social media, keeping the website’s content up-to-date, and performing a variety of other duties.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  B.S. in life sciences; at least three years of communication experience; proven track record of effective communication with other researchers and to the public; excellent organizational, planning, and written and verbal communication skills; self-motivation; attention to detail; and proficiency with Word and Powerpoint.  Must be able to ability to follow complex instructions, multitask, carefully document work in written records, work both independently and as part of a team, and plan and troubleshoot projects/tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.  PREFERRED:  M.S. or Ph.D. in life sciences and proficiency with Photoshop.  Job #22062
