Description

Do you love to work outside, have a sense of humor, and enjoy working with children?

Spend a season in the sunny Carolinas as a School Year Programs Instructor with YMCA Camp Thunderbird! Located on beautiful Lake Wylie, the Environmental Education Center and Conference & Retreat Program provide unique learning experiences for school groups and community groups. Instructors teach classes during the week for our Environmental Education Center and lead programs for visiting retreat groups.

Our curriculum of 24 classes range in topics from aquatic, forest, and wildlife ecology to astronomy, pioneer study, canoeing, and team building. Two evenings a week, instructors lead meals and evening programs. Weekend work is required on a rotating basis with two days off per week.

Compensation includes $400/week, staff housing, most meals, free internet, a complimentary Charlotte YMCA membership, and a staff training period that offers CPR, first aid, and lifeguard certification. Previous experience working with children is highly recommended. Positions available from now through December 11, 2022 with a spring season January 16- May 12, 2023.

Qualifications

Applicants with degrees in natural resources, parks and recreation management, and fish & wildlife conservation are recommended to apply. Previous experience working with children is highly recommended.
