I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary: The School Research Administrator position focuses on providing project management and support services for the Expert Voices Together (EVT) project, led by principal investigator Dr. Rebekah Tromble in the GWU School of Media & Public Affairs. The EVT initiative, which is entering its second year and which is part of the National Science Foundation’s Convergence Accelerator program, brings together a diverse coalition of academic researchers, technical specialists, civil society organizations, and community representatives who will collaborate to develop a new platform and set of tools to respond to misinformation-driven abuse and harassment campaigns waged against experts online.
The School Research Administrator’s role is to oversee the coordination of activities across 10+ partner organizations participating in the project. The School Research Administrator acts as a liaison between the PI and other key project personnel and is responsible for managing a diverse and continually evolving set of day-to-day operations in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The School Research Administrator plays an instrumental role in ensuring the success of Phase II of the Convergence Accelerator program and positioning the team to secure long-term funding. This is a full-time, limited term (2-year) position with the possibility of extension based on available funding.
Duties:
  • Facilitating communications and coordinating research activity among project team members located at organizations across the US
  • Administering project timeline and overseeing adherence to project milestones and deadlines
  • Monitoring project budget and overseeing expenditures
  • Liaising with Office of Sponsored Projects to ensure proper award management
  • Ensuring compliance with Convergence Accelerator Phase II innovation curriculum
  • Responding to outreach from NSF Convergence Accelerator Program Officers
  • Creating and maintaining project records and databases
  • Arranging meetings, appointments, and travel logistics on behalf of project personnel
  • Coordinating logistics for virtual and in-person events
  • Participate in regular project management and other team meetings
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suites
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid (office + remote) role
  • Experience assisting research projects in the social sciences or related areas a plus
Typical Hiring Range $48,370.44 – $66,469.34 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
