Who are we looking for?

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a School Executive Assistant
to join School of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.

The School Executive Assistant (SEA) provides executive support to the Head of School and high quality administration support to the School. The position requires high level organisation and communication skills. The SEA works collaboratively with the Senior School Coordinator and other staff to support the school’s activities.

The Faculty is led by the Executive Dean and Executive Management Team which includes the Deputy Dean, Associate Deans, Heads of School, and Faculty Operations Manager.

About the School

The School of Computer Science has over 45 academic staff and 1744 equivalent full-time students (representing nearly 14,000 unit enrolments). The staff and higher degree research students lead and conduct research and teaching that has a real world impact, through a focus on innovations that are smart, safe, and satisfying.

The School conducts fundamental and applied research into creating better, faster, more secure, and more accessible computing and interactive systems. Our research seeks to support a range of users, including people with diverse abilities, cultures and backgrounds, in interacting safely, effectively and engagingly with data, devices, and each other.  Our expertise spans machine learning, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, data and text mining, information security, cloud computing, and augmented and virtual reality.

Our academics are involved in large research initiatives such as the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child, the Cyber Security CRC, the QUT Centre for Data Science, and the Australian Acoustic Observatory.

What you need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you will be someone who enjoys taking the initiative to provide excellent service and support across a broad range of activities each day.

You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training or relevant experience equivalent to    completion of an associate diploma with at least two years’ subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
  • High level interpersonal skills with the ability to provide confidential executive support and to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment to support school activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative to solve problems, manage priorities to meet deadlines and balance competing demands, as well as the ability to embrace change and respond to unexpected challenges at short notice.
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills including the ability to draft emails and other correspondence, meetings agendas and minutes, and submissions with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy skills including ability to effectively work with Microsoft suite of products as well as corporate systems and other information sources to extract and interpret data.
