About the Role
The School Administrative Officer reports to the Staffing Manager and is responsible for the provision of administrative support at Melbourne Law School (MLS).  This includes operational activities as well as the implementation of strategic and business operational initiatives.

The successful applicant will undertake a range of administrative tasks including providing administrative and executive support, workforce administration, undertaking quality and compliance building and asset checks, and triaging, escalating and overseeing the resolution of risks with University Support Services providers.

It is necessary for the incumbent to manage competing demands, prioritise tasks effectively, ensure attention to detail, be self-directed in managing work assignments and be adept in dealing professionally with a range of stakeholders, offering them a high level of client service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative coordination to Management to support a range of staffing and operational needs.
  • Providing Executive support to School Committees including coordinating meetings and reports as required.
  • Working with Senior Management to ensure the integration and coordination of a range of Business activities to ensure and enable the smooth running of the School.

About You
You are a real go-getter, able to use your initiative to anticipate work requirements and work with minimal supervision, though you are equally comfortable working as an effective member of a collaborative team. You have excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client-oriented focus, and a proven ability to work with other professional services and Melbourne Law School colleagues. You are able to provide executive meeting support with the skills and knowledge to coordinate compliance and reporting activities. Continuous improvement is a hallmark of your work, always on the look out for ways to improve processes. Ideally you would have previous administration experience in a tertiary education environment or similar educational institution, though this is not essential to your success in this position.

You will also have:

  • Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Excellent organisational, and project management skills with an attention to detail to ensure the effective prioritisation, coordination, management and completion of assignments within agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a range of people and to build positive working relationships to deliver timely outcomes.
