Positions Location: St. Johns, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Following established procedure, obtains blood, urine, and nasal specimens for clinical laboratory analysis. Evaluates and prepares blood and body fluid specimens for analysis and performs moderately complex testing procedures as directed. Prepares quality samples for delivery to the various clinical areas of the laboratory. Efficiently perform all computer functions necessary to process all patient information including accurate billing.

Work Experience • See Education section. • Preferred – Experience performing phlebotomies on all age groups on an inpatient and outpatient basis within the last year. Education • High school diploma or G.E.D. • Successful completion of a formal phlebotomy education program, including externship. In lieu of education, at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience. Will accept proof of formal phlebotomy education and externship pending graduation. Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrated knowledge of basic phlebotomy as related to laboratory testing performed. • A basic knowledge of clinical specimens suitability for testing. • Interact with communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and employees of other departments, doctors, doctors’ offices, visitors and patients. • Must be flexible to work varied shifts when needed. • Organize time to account for workload, priority, meetings and/or emergencies, and spend free time in a constructive manner. • Be able to work independently.
