Job Description
The Sales Assistant supports the dining operation serving students, staff and guests of The Ohio State University; greets and serves customers; operates coffee equipment, makes gourmet coffee and specialty drinks; collects payment by cash or BuckID; prepares sales reports; takes daily inventory; stocks, store shelves, freezers, and coolers; maintains a clean and sanitary service and work area; makes decisions based on established policies and procedures under the direction of the supervisor. Work hours are Monday- Friday, 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; will work weekends as business needs dictate.

Required Qualifications
Required: Six months experience (600 hrs. coursework) in customer service, preferably in a sales/retail environment; six mos. experience (600 hrs coursework) in record keeping; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired: High school diploma or equivalent; one year of front line customer service experience desired; one year of experience taking and filling food orders; one year of experience brewing premium coffees and making espresso based drinks; one year of cash handling experience; one year of experience in taking inventories; one year of experience in placing orders or requisitioning supplies.

Student Life Dining Services is a premier campus dining department dedicated to serving students, staff, faculty and guests. Critical to the Residential Experience, Dining Services administers the student meal plan to approximately 15,000 residential students on the Columbus, Mansfield, Marion, Newark and Wooster campuses.
This position will serve as a Sales Assistant for Campus Grinds. Campus Grinds is comprised of 11 Café/Coffee Shop operations serving a range of items from coffee to pastries and sandwiches. The successful candidate for this position will be eligible for premium pay in addition to base pay. Premium pay is available to employees who work a minimum of four consecutive hours after 3:00 pm.
The target hiring range for this position is $15.00.
The successful candidate selected for this position will receive a $2,000 recruitment bonus. Candidates that are internal to the University and the Wexner Medical Center are not eligible to receive the recruitment bonus.

By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.
Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
