Position Review

Under the direction of the department Director, the SafeUT Manager will coordinate and oversee the 24/7 clinical and operational functions of the SafeUT program within the University of Utah Health system and the broader community across the state of Utah. The SafeUT program is in partnership with community and state organizations, to include the Utah legislature, the SafeUT Commission (and its various voting members), members of the public and higher education system, law enforcement personnel, and offers critical lifesaving services to ultimately reduce rates of suicide in Utah. Because of the nature of this service, and the statewide impact of SafeUT, there are many complex stakeholder relationships to manage that require a great deal of ambassadorship and in-depth knowledge of the SafeUT system of care.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all aspects of SafeUT’s internal and external customer service/stakeholder engagement, as well as the human resource and financial management operations. The incumbent acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers, and staff, to ensure continuity and quality of service and care. The incumbent will offer clinical and administrative support and oversight to SafeUT behavioral health supervisor(s), mental health clinicians, and may be required to deliver direct patient care via the SafeUT platform as needed.

Preferred Candidate: Licensed mental health professional (LCSW and CMHC preferred), experience in crisis/suicide prevention work and patient care, experience with marketing/outreach/business development, experience with complex stakeholder relationship management and ambassadorship

Corporate Overview: The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience.
