The Safety Officer (SO) Radiological Protection (RP) will be the designated Radiation Protection Officer for the University as defined by S.I. No. 30 of 2019 (IRR 19).

The University undertakes a large number of research projects and teaching activities that involve the use of radioactive materials or radiation sources. The materials and sources range from small quantities of unsealed radioactive materials used in bench–top experiments through to High Activity Sealed Sources. Their use is governed by Licence L0032-04 which has been issued to the University by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). They will also coordinate and assist the 15 University Radiological Protection Supervisors (RPS’s) to ensure the legislative requirements are managed and fulfilled.

The Safety Officer (Radiological Protection) (SO (RP)) will be part of a small team of specialist safety professionals in the University Safety Office that advises Trinity and oversees the broader safety management programme. This role is a specific purpose contract to cover a career break.

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week 

Salary:

This appointment will be made on the Administrative 1 (Points 1-6), Salary Scale (€60,692 – €96,100 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
