Royal Hospital Chelsea Aggregated Research Study (Ref: RDFC24/HLS/NMH/KIERNAN)

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a Grade I and II listed site, a beautiful architectural legacy left to the nation by Charles II and Sir Christopher Wren.

Some 300 army veterans live at the Royal Hospital today, including those who have served in Korea, the Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and World War II. Others may not have served in campaigns, but all understand what it means to be a soldier and the potential sacrifice that it entails.

The hospital requires a multi-stage sequential study of data from the hospital over a three-year period. This multi-stage study will include aggregation, exploration and analyses of the data.

The aims of the project are to:

·        Aggregate data from the multiple different systems that exist within the Royal Hospital Chelsea;

·        Pull data from all systems onto a singular aggregated dataset;

·        Undertake the exploration of that data in order to set the conditions for health economics research;

Undertake an evaluation of the effectiveness and accuracy of the aggregated data system.

Eligibility Requirements:

•         Academic excellence i.e. 2:1 (or equivalent GPA from non-UK universities with preference for 1st class honours); or a Masters (preference for Merit or above); or APEL evidence of substantial practitioner achievement.

•         Appropriate IELTS score, if required.

•         Applicants cannot apply if they are already a PhD holder or if currently engaged in Doctoral study at Northumbria or elsewhere.

To be classed as a Home student, candidates must:

•         Be a UK National (meeting residency requirements), or

•         have settled status, or

•         have pre-settled status (meeting residency requirements), or

•         have indefinite leave to remain or enter.

If a candidate does not meet the criteria above, they would be classed as an International student.  

Applicants will need to be in the UK and fully enrolled before stipend payments can commence.
