GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides leadership, accountability and is responsible for the supervision and daily operation of Clinical Nutrition Services/Room Service Call Center. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, safe food handling and clinically modified diets that meet the Nutrition Care Manual guidelines. Supervises and schedules Call Center staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Supervises and schedules the Room Service Call Center Operators. Ability to modify the work schedule as needed. Maintains productivity within budgetary limits. • Interviews, trains, observes performance, analyzes, evaluates, and counsels staff to be in compliance with Room Service policies & procedures. • Controls labor and maintains records of meals served and other pertinent data for patient meal services. Prints and provides an accurate meal report which documents the meal equivalents. • Requisitions foods and supplies; calculates amounts of foods to prepare. Responsible to maintain expenses within budgetary limits. • Inspects equipment and department for safety, code compliance, sanitation and operation; reports compliance issues or malfunctions to Director and Maintenance. Documents issues and resolutions. Maintains and monitors the work environment for the Call Center Operators. • Coordinates, prepares and maintains temp logs as appropriate on equipment used for baby formula production. Documents findings, files in organized manner. Documents issues out of compliance and resolution and provides information to the Room Service Trayline Supervisor and Department Safety Officer. • Plans and participates in educational Call Center Meetings. Plans and conducts additional staff meetings to instruct/develop, communicate, listen, inform and respond to concerns. • Communicates with patients, trayline supervisor and colleagues in a professional manner. 2 • Has the ability to troubleshoot with special diet &/or food requests from patients and/or nursing personnel. • Participates in Process Improvement projects and/or being an active team member. • Assists the Director with completing progress and performance appraisals annually. Completes initial departmental orientation. Completes department/job specific competencies updating as required by regulatory and accrediting agencies. • Responsible to ensure staff receives departmental educational activities. • Responsible for completing galley usage tally reports and provides results to Director. • Assists department director and other supervisors as requested. • Fills in at staff position or other Lead/Supervisory positions as needed and/or requested.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Associate’s degree in related field preferred. • Membership in the Dietary Managers Association desirable. • Five years experience in large-scale food service operation required. • Equivalent combination of training or experience may be accepted.
