About the opportunity

The Research and Education Technical Services (RETS) Program Manager provides overall program management for the establishment and implementation of a large-scale strategic program of work involving integrated projects  and diverse stakeholders across the three main STEM faculties and University PSUs. They will manage the prioritisation, organisation, and implementation of multiple projects, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment of teams and resources to meet program objectives. The role will work closely with the RETS change management and communication resources within the team, as well as program stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination and communication across the project scope and requirements.

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

• provide project management leadership and expert advice throughout the development and establishment of project plans across work streams
• manage the consolidation and alignment of all project plans, identifying synergies and opportunities to leverage resources or existing work activity across projects
• identify and prioritise project dependencies across the University, working with relevant project teams to ensure appropriate plans are developed and implemented to monitor and manage potential impacts
• manage the development and implementation of program and project governance and reporting procedures to monitor and control progress, including project status reporting, issue management, scope creep and quality assurance
• manage program stakeholders and collaborate with teams to ensure that project deliverables and milestones are achieved
• manage the financial planning including the development and allocation of program and project budgets across projects and monitor expenditure
• provide effective leadership, management and coordination of project staff. This includes performance management and development for program support staff

About you

• experience project managing multiple work streams, or leading large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
• experience managing a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with key users.
• financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for large scale projects

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
