Job description
Your function
You will be part of the team that studies wildlife- and vectorborne zoonoses. This ranges from detection of pathogens and study of transmissiondynamics to pathobiomes of wild animals and vectors. You will set-up and organize various projects yourself and will help with ongoing projects. In most the ongoing projects the data has already been collected, so this involves mainly (statistical) analyses of data and publishing the results. It is therefore important to have demonstrable experience with this and that you are able to perform this independently. You participate in translation of results to practical insights to improve monitoring of wildlife and vectorborne zoonoses.

Wildlife- and vectorborne research demands a broad perspective and multidisciplinaire collaboration. This makes the work challenging and varied, but also requires flexibility and excellent communication skills. Because the broad scope of the projects that you will work on, you will learn about many aspects of wildlife- and vectorborne related research. Because data is already available from various projects, this job offers the opportunity to write multiple publication.

Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract: Bepaalde tijd, tijdelijke werkzaamheden voor een duur van 12 maanden.

More than 2200 colleagues work at the RIVM taking care of tomorrow’s health. Within the domain of Infectious diseases and Vaccinology, the Centre Zoönoses and Environemental Microbiology aims to analyse and protect the health of Dutch people with regards to infectious diseases. At the department Animal & Vector, 30 colleagues work to signal and fight zoönoses (infectious diseases from animals that are can infect humans). It is an independent and professional team, that is known for its expertise and respect for each other.
