RESEARCH TECHNICIAN, School of Medicine, Physiology & Biophysics (22500578551020)

A Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Assen Marintchev at the Boston University School of Medicine, Department of Physiology & Biophysics to study the regulation of protein synthesis and the Integrated Stress Response (ISR) in human. The position is for one year, contingent on satisfactory performance, with the possibility to be extended. Shorter appointments will also be considered. Recent college graduates taking a gap year before graduate school are encouraged to apply. Job Responsibilities include: The research assistant will have the opportunity to do what a starting graduate student would do: Get trained in performing and analyzing various Molecular Biology techniques, Biochemical and Biophysical assays. Assist the PI with research. Perform and ‘take ownership’ of their own project, including experiment planning and writing manuscripts. General laboratory maintenance, inventory of laboratory supplies.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related field. Experience in basic molecular and biochemical techniques, such as protein expression and purification, electrophoresis, chromatography. Experience with spectroscopic techniques. enzymology, or NMR is a plus. Interested candidates should submit a CV and cover letter with their application.
