Candidate will be part of a team investigating how viruses infect cells with an interest in discovery of new antiviral drugs. Primary purpose of this position is to conduct bench experiments that support the Davey lab’s projects and contribute to the day-to-day operation of the lab. Keeping good laboratory notes is essential as well as ability to work within a team environment. Work will be performed in the NEIDL BSL4 and previous experience working at BSL3 or BSL4 is desirable, but not required, as is animal (mouse) handling experience
Members of the Davey lab conducts research on emerging pathogens such as Ebola, Lassa and SARS CoV-2 in the BSL-4 labs at the NEIDL. Employment is contingent on initial and continued successful background checks as determined by Boston University and applicable external agencies and meeting all applicable elements of Research Occupational Health Programs and Personnel Suitability & Reliability Program (includes initial and random drug screening) throughout the period of employment. Please note: the standards of background checks, etc. may change at any time should there be amendments to applicable laws or policies relevant to Boston University and the NEIDL.
