Demonstrated knowledge of routine laboratory techniques and lab equipment maintenance
Demonstrated ability to accurately record and summarize data
Experience with PCR and Gene Cloning
Job Description:
The Department of Veterinary Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for a Research Technician II position. This position will be responsible for supporting activities in the Parasitology lab of Dr. Matt Brewer. The individual will perform basic procedures including but not limited to ELISA, PAGE, western blot, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and flow cytometry. In addition, the individual will have strong organizational skills including the ability to accurately record and summarize data, follow and create clear standard operating procedures. Primary functions of this position will be conducted in a laboratory setting, with occasional farm visits or lab animal work required. Approximately 15% of this position includes processing diagnostic samples (stool, blood, urine, tissue).
Summary
Responsible for coordinating the testing of samples. Monitors and maintains lab equipment. Troubleshoots issues in the lab.

• Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
• Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples or research data.
• Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
• Determines testing methods for non-standardized test.
• Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates lab equipment.
• Assists scientists with research and record findings in the field or lab.
• Maintains sample tracking.
