Summary

The research program studies inherited cardiac diseases using both the human induced pluripotent stem cell technology and genetically engineered mouse models. The technician will be provided with opportunities to develop independent project if he/she has the motivation. The technician will be trained on the tasks once in the lab and will be working alongside with a senior person with extensive experience prior to gaining full independence. 

Job Duties

• Conducts cell culture that includes cell lines, primary cells, and reprogrammed stem cells. 
• Assists with basic lab tasks that includes PCR, western blot, mouse genotyping etc. mouse colony management. 
• Cultures induced human pluripotent stem cell and induced pluripotent stem cell differentiated cardiomyocytes that includes maintaining and expanding established cell lines, developing new cell lines from patients and controls, genome editing etc. 
• Performs mouse colony management that includes genotyping and intraperitoneal injection.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS or MS in biology or related fields.
• Experiences in molecular biology, cell culture , and mouse colony management are highly appreciated.
• Be a highly self-motivated or a recent graduate.
