Summary

The Department of Molecular & Human Genetics is seeking a skilled Research Technician I. This is a position available in the Baylor Knockout Mouse Phenotyping Project Production and Phenotyping group. Research Technician will perform routine techniques using standard laboratory procedures and genetically modified mice. 

Job Duties

  • Works on mouse husbandry. 
  • Conducts survival and terminal mouse procedures. 
  • Works on molecular biology that includes cloning and standard and real-time PCR genotyping.
  • Conducts data entry into a research database.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a basic science or equivalent education is preferred. 
  • Previous experience in mouse handling and molecular biology is desired.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, individual with strong communication skills.
