The Henry Royce Institute (Royce ), is an EPSRC-funded national institute. Extending across nine floors, the new £105m Royce Hub Building in Manchester will foster world-class collaborative research as diverse as biomedical materials, digital fabrication and advanced metals processing.
Royce is seeking a Technician to provide high-quality technical support to research activities related to the Advanced Metals Processing research area. The post holder will be primarily responsible for ensuring that a range of instrumentation associated with coatings and high-performance testing research in the Royce Hub Building is maintained, serviceable and that good housekeeping is maintained. Working alongside a team of Experimental Officers, they will provide support for student projects, research work and commercial contracts on the equipment.
The post holder will be skilled at maintaining the high-end experimental instrumentation used in thermomechanical processing and testing research facilities. They will require practical experience in at least one of the following: instrumental forming processes – press or mill, mechanical testing, dilatometry, Gleeble. A proactive and energetic approach is important, as is an ability to establish a good rapport with students, staff, external customers and visitors. A degree, HND, HNC, Level 4 NVQ, etc. or significant work experience in a relevant technical, engineering or scientific role is required.
