Research Specialist Dent Med-Craniofacial Regeneration–Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh–(22008323) The Center for Craniofacial Regeneration (CCR) at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Dental Medicine (SDM) seeks a Research Specialist to perform funded research on the link between pain and temporomandibular joint damage. The candidate should have interest in skeletal biology and/or regenerative medicine, preferably with some experience with handling of rodents. The successful candidate will perform behavioral tests on rodents, histological staining of joint tissues and central nervous system (CNS) tissues, and patch clamp testing of innervating neurons into the joint for action potentials. The candidate will also perform mechanical testing of articulating tissues of other species, and develop immunological stains. The candidate will plan and carry out experiments with the investigators, troubleshoot protocols and techniques, analyze data, and prepare abstracts and manuscripts. The candidate is also expected to maintain laboratory website.
Bachelor’s degree. Interest and/or experience in skeletal biology and/orrodent handling and husbandry, and working knowledge of immunology andand biomechanics.
