Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Research Specialist to help run a vigorous and productive program in Molecular Pathogenic Mycology. The focus of the work broadly embraces the molecular and genetic mechanisms of host cell interactions with medically important Fungi. The position will require executing experiments involving gene cloning, expression and deletion, as well as biochemical analysis of such manipulations. The candidate must have sufficient knowledge and experience to conduct research at the level of an effective, efficient and highly motivated research specialist. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team including the PI, scientists, postdocs and graduate and undergraduate students.

Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
  • 50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 25% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 5% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 5% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • 5% Performs literature reviews and writes reports

Qualifications:

1-2 years of prior experience yielding technical skills in the areas of eukaryotic molecular biology and biochemistry, including gene expression, genetic transformation, mammalian cell culture is strongly preferred

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $40,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
