Research Software Engineer (Robotics and AI)

A Research Software Engineer (Robotics and AI) is required for a period of up to 18 months to work on the UKRI/EPSRC project “Node in Trust of the Trustworthy Autonomous Systems programme”. This is a collaborative project of the University of Manchester’s Cognitive Robotics Lab with Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh and Imperial College London.

This candidate will support the development of software tools for research in robotics and AI, the implementation of a robotics cognitive architecture and the support of the Cognitive Robotics Lab members. A degree in Computer science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence or allied disciplines is required. Excellent programming skills are essential, as well as robotics and/or AI machine learning research support skills. Knowledge of cognitive robotics and cognitive architecture design is desirable.

The research software engineer will be working collaboratively as part of the Cognitive Robotics Lab at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manchester under the supervision of Professor Angelo Cangelosi. Close collaboration with the other project partners will also be required.

Expected start date of the post is 1 October 2022 (or as soon as possible after this date, subject to negotiation). ​​​​​​​
