RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Nuclear Science and Engineering-Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems (CANES), to conduct computational research through modeling and simulation in the area of nuclear energy systems and techno-economic assessment of advanced technologies, with a specific focus on reactor design and safety.  While based within the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering, CANES performs research projects with faculty, students, and researchers across MIT.  The position will involve contributing to research projects and overseeing graduate and undergraduate research assistants and postdoc.  May also teach courses in NSE, depending upon the candidate’s personal interest and fit.

Job Requirements

 REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science; at least two years of experience in a related field.  PREFERRED: ability to assess reactor physics performance of generic advanced reactors using Monte-Carlo and deterministic techniques; experience with commercial multiphysics solvers to address multidimensional phenomena; proficiency with system code safety analysis and experience working with general licensing requirements; ability to work in large multidisciplinary research groups and build relationships; experience mentoring students and researchers; ability to communicate research results in the form of presentations, juried research journal articles, and reports.  Job #21420
