Summary of Job Duties:

The Division of Radiation Health (DRH) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UAMS College of Pharmacy, conducts basic, applied, and preclinical research into the biological effects of radiation therapy on normal and cancer tissues. The DRH research program is also involved in development of countermeasures against radiological accidents and the study of health effects of radiation in space travel. The laboratory uses an extensive range of experimental methods, ranging from in vivo animal procedures to complex cellular and molecular biology techniques. The Research Program Manager (RPM) will manage multiple projects and conduct independent research within the framework of the DRH under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and assist the PI and other research staff in the design, implementation and presentation of research.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Molecular Biology or Biotechnology or related field with 5 years of research experience

  • Ability to do NexGen sequencing, Single-cell sequencing, flowcytometry, cloning and immunofluorescence imaging

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS with 3 three of experience or PhD with 1 year of experience

  • ASCP certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage (wholly or in part) multiple research projects

  • Commit to staying current with scientific literature, and implement current laboratory protocols in order to maintain the highest caliber of experimental research

  • Responsible for creating and monitoring timelines for multiple projects, accomplished by developing action plans and collaborating with professionals from multiple research sites

  • Supervises data collection activities by working closely with colleagues in the laboratory and will assist with preparation and editing of scientific products of the research.

  • Performs and supervises/coordinates experiments, and collecting and summarizing research data

  • Participates in supervision, education, and training of students and classified research support staff Expected to participate in grant proposal preparation

  • Other duties as assigned
