Research Laboratory Assistant

• 2 Full Time casual opportunities responsible for providing technical support in the laboratory

• Full Time contracts until end of December 2023

• HE03 Step 1 $44.35 per hour

About the opportunity 

The Research Lab Assistants provide technical support in the laboratory including carrying out sterilisation, scientific glassware washing services, general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment, routine tests/checks, preparing test samples and experiments, preparing the laboratory for experiments and practical classes, and assisting with carrying out experiments, etc. The incumbents may analyse qualitative and quantitative tests by recording and computing relevant data.

About you

• ability to ensure the relevant Work, Health and Safety standards of the lab are met and are aligned to the University’s WHS policy

• ability to work as an effective member of a team

• ability to display discretion to choose between established methods and sequences

• ability to exercise a degree of initiative and judgement in resolving routine matters associated with day-to-day laboratory operations

• ability to raise issues/concerns to more senior laboratory/technical staff for guidance and/or resolution
