Research Intern – Vascular Hemodynamics Modelling

The Simulation team of Helsinki-based Device Concept Lab is seeking an intern to contribute in the development of simulation methods for development of wearable devices, such as smart watches, focusing on the effects of vascular hemodynamics.
Main Tasks:
- Responsible for exploring the current state of the art and documenting.
- Responsible for creating a development plan.
- Contributing to the development of a vascular hemodynamics model.
Requirements:
- PhD student with background in computer science, mathematics, physics, and biomedical engineering with demonstrated proficiency in:
a) Computational fluid dynamics
b) Finite Element Methods
c) Lumped Parameter Models - Experience in biomechanical and CFD models.
- Proficiency in the programming languages: Matlab, C/C++ or Python.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
It is a plus if you have the following skills or experiences:
- Applicants with track record in publishing at prestigious journals are prioritized.
- Knowledge about human hemodynamics, the physiological signals such as optical signals including photoplethysmography (PPG), machine learning, medical imaging and light-tissue interaction is considered advantageous.
Starting time: May 2024
Internship period: 3-6 months
Location: Ruoholahti, Helsinki or Hervanta, Tampere
