 The University of Pittsburgh’s Health Sciences Core Research Facilities is seeking a Research Histology Technician. This position will work in a high-volume Research Histology service facility that supports clinicians and faculty investigators for the University of Pittsburgh and affiliated institutions. This position involves performing all forms of routine histology on animal and human tissues of all types as well as adapting/modifying current techniques and developing new techniques to meet each researcher’s needs. The incumbent will need to learn emerging techniques and contribute to maintaining the facility as state-of-art, including complex methods. Techniques include (but are not limited to) histochemical, immunohistochemical, and molecular. In addition, this position involves the creation of paraffin tissue microarrays (TMA), a method of visualizing multiple cases and tissue types using one paraffin block. Troubleshooting of complex immunohistochemistry and other special staining techniques is required. The training and oversight of other less experienced staff members are required. 
Three years of histology experience; OR a specialized histology technical training degree with an HT or HTL Certification and 7 years histology experience may be substituted for education requirement.  The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity.
