Research Fellow[LKCMedicine]

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applications for:

Research Fellow (Machine Learning) in the Centre for Population Health Sciences (Prof Josip Car)

We are currently recruiting a Research Fellow who will join the Centre for Population Health Sciences at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a joint medical school between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University.

The Centre’s focus areas of research include population health, digital health, digital education, and health services and outcomes research.

We are looking for a person who has specialist skills in computer science or data science and be excited in driving new research directions to transform digital health applications. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Population Health Sciences, Prof Josip Car, who is jointly Director, WHO Collaborating Centre for Digital Health and Health Education, responsibilities include:

Analyse health data using statistical analysis, machine learning or social network analysis; Contribute to the writing of research grant proposals including literature searches and obtaining preliminary data; Prepare research deliverables including writing progress/final report, drafting, and reviewing manuscripts for journal publications; Manage project administration and resources; and Perform other research and administrative tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator where required.

Education and experience

• PhD with specialization in computer science, data science, or related academic areas (e.g., mathematics, statistics).

• Proficient in using statistical software packages and machine learning programming (e.g., Python).

• Strong publication records.

• Experience in a leadership position is advantageous.

Research :

• Has project implementation and management skills including study coordination, data collection, data management, and analytical approaches (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing).

• Able to work within a project team to achieve research outcomes to quality standards and meet deliverable timelines.

• Contribute to writing research reports and peer-reviewed academic publications.

Qualities:

• Highly motivated, meticulous, and well-organised.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with good interpersonal skills.

• High level of initiative and self-motivated to excel.

• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a highly diverse, multi-cultural and interdisciplinary team.

• Adaptable to a fast-paced environment and willing to enter deep learning in new areas.
