Research Fellow (Wireless Communications)

The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Conduct in-depth research on terahertz and free space optics-based communication systems for achieving better reliability and low latency with ultra-high data rate for short-range transmission.  Analyze the performance characteristics of the proposed system in the presence for environmental factors such as turbulence induced fading, fog, and various other atmospheric factors.

• Propose novel hybrid THz/FSO system with intelligent reflective surface (IRS) aided THz access links to achieve larger coverage and reliable communication with higher propagation distance.

• Propose innovative methods to model, design and performance characterisation of the wireless network comprising both distributed active access points and passive IRSs in the presence of interference.

• Propose innovative algorithms for spatial diversity techniques for hybrid THz/FSO system to improve the reliability and spatial modulation to improve the spectral efficiency.

• Conduct in-depth research on machine learning based algorithms for the channel estimation of THz based ultra-massive MIMO systems with reduced complexity.

Job Requirements: 

• A Ph D with sufficient research experience in the following areas: Wireless/optical communications, THz and or FSO system design, signal processing and machine learning algorithms, other related areas.  

• Good experiences in one or more of the following areas: Communication system design, THz systems, optical communication, signal processing algorithms, deep learning algorithms

• Excellent programming skills in MATLAB, C/C++, PYTHON, etc.

• Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.

• Good publication record in reputable journals and/or conferences.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
