Remuneration: Pro-rata of $104,185 – $123,720 pa Level B (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Opportunity

The Department of Paediatrics is responsible for leading Child Health Research for the Monash Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences. The goal is to elevate Children’s Health research at Monash to a nationally leading position.

This role is expected to carry out independent and team-oriented research within their designated field. The successful applicant will be placed within the Complex Autism and Neurodevelopment research group in the Department of Paediatrics and well-suited to support busy clinician researchers who are conducting systematic reviews and trials.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • The conduct of research either as a member of a team or independently and the production of conference and seminar papers and publications from that research
  • Supervision of research-support staff involved in the staff member’s research
  • Contribution to the preparation or, where appropriate, individual preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies
  • Co-supervision or, where appropriate, supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects within the field of the staff member’s area of research
  • Involvement in professional activities including, subject to availability of funds, attendance at conferences and seminars in the field of expertise

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and key attributes:

  • A doctoral qualification or equivalent research experience that demonstrates an ability to conduct systematic reviews and skills in trial design
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis and manuscript and research proposal preparation skills; including a solid track record of refereed research publications including systematic reviews with meta-analyses
  • Experience in successfully supervising, mentoring and coaching to support the development of research staff and/or a demonstrated trajectory of leadership capability
  • Experience or training using GRADE for evidence certainty assessment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

This role is a part-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
