Research Fellow – Social Impacts of Hydrogen

  • Conduct research focused on the range of human and social factors that are involved in the creation and use of consumer and industry-related hydrogen technologies
  • Full time, fixed-term position until Nov 2023 at our Hawthorn campus
  • Academic Level B salary + 17% super with flexible working options

About the Role 
Led by Swinburne University of Technology, working in partnership with CSIRO and Germany’s ARENA 2036 , the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) project will bring together researchers, industry partners and business. Testing, trialling and demonstrating new and emerging hydrogen technologies, the Victorian Hydrogen Hub will support sustainable manufacturing practices and the ability to store clean energy from renewable sources, striving to create a sustainable future for all.

A specific focus of this Post-Doctoral Fellowship is on the range of human and social factors (e.g., community attitudes and engagement, trust and social licence to operate, etc.) that are involved in the creation and use of consumer and industry-related hydrogen technologies and the establishment of new industries and energy ecosystems.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative research methodologies, including problem scoping, academic literature reviews, and qualitative interviewing
  • Strong research project management skills, including the ability to show initiative, work independently and complete research deliverables within tight deadlines
  • Experience with publication in peer-reviewed journals and writing grant applications
  • High level of oral and written communication skills in dealing with contacts in the outside business and industry environment
  • Knowledge of quantitative and/or mixed method research methodologies including problem scoping, academic literature reviews, quantitative data analysis is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Humanities or Social Sciences-relevant disciplines
