Job Description:
The School of Natural and Built Environment (NBE) at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint exceptional candidates to Research Fellow positions in the Economic and Social Research Council funded project “Geographies of Ethnic Diversity and Inequalities (GEDI).”
Led by Dr Gemma Catney, this project will examine, analyse and explain the UK’s changing ethnic geographies through a novel integration of research strands on ethnic diversity, residential segregation, socio-spatial inequalities and migration. GEDI is a timely and innovative programme of research which aims to use Census data to provide a comprehensive picture of the small area (neighbourhood) ethnic landscape of the UK, and how this has changed over time (1991-2021/22).
The successful candidates will be highly productive, ambitious and collaborative members of the GEDI project team, assisting in the planning and delivery of the research. Each Research Fellow will focus on a set of research themes best linked to their experience and background. These will include ethnic diversity, segregation and mixing; socio-spatial ethnic inequalities; internal migration and (im)mobility. Experience with analysis of secondary population data is essential.
The researchers will be based in Geography, in the School of Natural and Built Environment, at QUB. One post has a duration of 38 months, and the other 20 months, but there is a single application process.
