The Opportunity

The Respiratory Care Research Group, led by Professor Anne Holland, aims to improve the lives of people with chronic lung disease through novel non-drug treatments and optimal supportive care. Our research aims to understand patient experiences and priorities; develop new non-drug treatments and investigate their mechanisms of action; test new treatments in clinical trials; and then implement effective treatments into clinical practice. We are part of the Department of Immunology and Pathology at Monash University, which is focused on understanding basic immunological processes in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research that will contribute to clinical trials in pulmonary rehabilitation and supportive care for people with chronic lung disease. This includes conducting systematic reviews, preparing ethics submissions and maintaining study governance, collecting qualitative and quantitative data in clinical studies involving patients with chronic lung disease, managing and maintaining study databases, preparing manuscripts for publication, and assisting with grant preparation.

Reporting to the Head of Respiratory Research the successful candidate will be highly motivated with a strong record of clinical research and strong interests in chronic lung disease and supportive care. Providing support to the Group Lead and relevant trial principal investigators, with responsibility for coordinating and assisting with the advancement of the program, supervision of students, opportunities for authorship on publications, and facility development activities.
