About the Role:

This role is an exciting opportunity to join project dldl/ድልድል, a research and innovation project funded initially for four years by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the Future Leaders Fellowship scheme.

The project comprises of a series of research, sensitisation, knowledge exchange and public engagement activities involving collaborators, stakeholders and communities in East Africa and the UK with the aims of a) improving preparedness among clergy and seminarians to respond to DV victims and perpetrators, b) increasing religio-cultural sensitivity in the NGO/state-led DV sectors, c) developing integrated DV systems and better served affected populations, and d) promoting reciprocal research partnerships and mutual professional development for all team members and personnel.

The role holder will join the UKRI-funded project for the last two years of the project, on a full time basis to support research in the UK. They will work directly with the PI, Dr Romina Istratii and co-Investigators, Professor Parveen Ali (Sheffield) and Professor Gene Feder (Bristol) to conduct and support research activities on religion, migration and domestic violence in the UK. They will specifically support a literature review, fieldwork with migrant and ethnic minority communities in UK, the administration of a survey completed with the two co-Investigators, data analysis and evidence writing and publication.

About You:

The role holder most have a PhD in a relevant subject, such domestic violence studies, religious studies, gender studies or other social sciences related to religion, migration and GBV/DV. They must have in-depth knowledge of ethnographic, qualitative and participatory research methodologies and systematic reviews, and a clear understanding of diversity and how to account for intersectionality in research projects. The role holder must communicate effectively in English and fluently in a second language spoken in UK migrant communities (e.g., Amharic, Tigrigna, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Polish, etc.). Ability to organise data, produce summary statistics tables, graphs, present findings in visual and written format is essential.
