Research Fellow/Postdoctoral Fellow
(Institute for Environment & Sustainability)  

The Research Fellow/Postdoctoral Fellow will be a core member of the
Institute for Environment & Sustainability (IES) research team, working to
deliver IES’s research programme on urban water policy and governance. The
candidate will lead policy-relevant research projects relating to IES’s
research theme of urban water security, take responsibility for project and
grant management and contribute to stakeholder liaison and outreach of the
institute. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high level of competence
in empirical research in the social sciences or a related discipline and have
an interest in the policy and governance aspects of water. All candidates
should have a strong willingness to contribute to IES’s mission and to engage
with new topics and research tools. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement
    and lead research projects under IES’s research programmes
  • Prepare high
    quality research papers on topics related to IES’s core research themes
    suitable for publication in high tier academic journals
  • Contribute to
    grant and institute-level reporting requirements and funding applications
  • Provide support
    for institute’s events and outreach activities

Requirements

  • PhD in Economics,
    Public Policy, Behavioural Science, or in a related field.
  • Excellent
    analytical skills with knowledge of big data analytics, economics,
    econometrics, laboratory/field experiments, game theory and/or agent-based
    modelling.
  • Experience with
    independently designing, conducting surveys and analysing its data is
    preferred
  • Preference for
    those with good and relevant publication records / working papers
  • Excellent verbal
    and written English
  • Good time
    management and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Able to commit
    till 31 March 2023 (renewable for 1 year on good performance)
