Research Fellow (Plasma Physics for Fusion Clean Energy)

Nanyang Technological University

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is looking for a research fellow, to develop leading-edge research and build-up research activity in the field of fusion and plasma science for clean energy. The project aims at assessing the effects of 3D magnetic perturbations on collisional and turbulent transport in toroidal magnetic configurations. The Research Fellow will be employed and stationed at NTU, and is expected to travel overseas to interact with scientific teams in Europe.

Job Responsibilities

  • Run gyrokinetic simulations of plasma turbulence in 3D magnetic field, in collaboration with relevant teams in Europe

  • Build-up a comprehensive database based on these simulations

  • Analyze data with the use of deep learning techniques to develop surrogate models

  • Compare the outcome of surrogate models with existing experimental data

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in plasma physics

  • Demonstrated experience in computer sciences

  • Demonstrated experience in handling large size database

  • Knowledgeable in theoretical plasma physics

  • Demonstrated track-record of scientific productivity

  • Experience of scientific work in an international environment
