Research Fellow (Piezoelectric Materials)

The Continental-NTU Corporate Lab: Future-Oriented Continental Urban Society (FOCUS) Lab invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the colleges of Engineering, Business, Science, and Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and its Graduate College.

Continental-NTU Corporate Lab: Future-Oriented Continental Urban Society (FOCUS) Lab develops future pioneering technologies and services for sustainable and connected mobility of people. We would like to invite candidates with strong background in piezoelectric materials and devices to join us as a research fellow or senior research fellow to work on developing piezoelectric based actuators 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Executing and Leading industrial focused R&D projects
• Mentoring PhD students and other research staff involved in the project
• Continuous contact and reporting to industrial collaborators
• Performing detailed study on the current state-of-the-art technology.
• Materials selection on piezoelectric materials suitable for targeted applications.
• Manufacturing technique selection
• Fabrication and material characterization on piezoelectric based devices.
• Preparing technical reports and publication of results in high impact factor journals
• Preparing proposals and participating in public grant calls.

Job Requirements:

• Possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• More than two years of experience in R&D environment is highly desirable but not essential
• Project management experience is desirable
• Experience in piezoelectric materials and devices
• Solid background on materials characterization techniques is desirable
• Industrial experience or close collaboration with private sector on topics related to the project is desirable
• Previous experience on mentoring PhD students is desirable
• Good publication record
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently with external agencies and lead/facilitate projects with minimal supervision
• Contribution to Journal/Conference papers with good presentation skills.
