You will join our team of over 40 researchers focusing on the integration of low power phase modulator devices based on silicon nitride. You will work in collaboration with a range of academic and industrial partners across Europe. You will be based within the state-of-the-art Zepler Institute Cleanroom Facilities (http://www.zeplerinstitute.com/facilities ) at the University of Southampton.  The project will be undertaken under the supervision of Prof Frederic Gardes (http://gp-iv-photonics.org ).

It is essential you have a strong experience in group IV semiconductor materials and will be able to demonstrate experience in simulation of optical modulators and photonic devices. In addition, you will have a background in laboratory photonic experimentation with critical evaluation and interpretation of data. It is expected that they will hold a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications and experience related to semiconductor processing or integrated photonics. 

*Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

This post is a full time fixed term of 2 years with a possibility to extend the position beyond the end of the current contract duration dependent upon the availability of funding.
