The Opportunity

The Cellular Signalling and Human Disease Laboratory (www.monash.edu/discovery-institute/tiganis-lab ) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct research to understand how obesity and type 2 diabetes influence the development of triple negative breast cancer. A key focus will be on how metabolism affects the immune system and the response to immunotherapy.

There is now compelling evidence that obesity is a key factor in the progression of many human malignancies, including breast cancer. The project will take advantage of multidisciplinary techniques and utilise both cell-based and animal models to understand the processes by which obesity affects the development of cancer, especially triple negative breast cancer. In particular the project will explore the impact on cancer metabolism, the tumour immune landscape and the response to immunotherapy. The Research Fellow will work in an established research team with a track record in research excellence and will be capable of coordinating a multifaceted research program, working both independently and collaboratively in a team.

The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualification in cancer biology or immunology, or progress towards a doctorate in cancer biology or immunology, with a background in cancer metabolism or tumour immunology. Experience with molecular and genomic techniques and the use of murine tumour models is also highly desirable.

This role is a full-time position, however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to  “How to apply for Monash Jobs “.
