The Opportunity
The Lieschke Group studies white blood cell development and function, using zebrafish models. Research areas include the transcriptional regulation of haemopoiesis, developmental haemopoiesis with attention to the genetic causes of congenital neutropenia, and the role neutrophils and macrophages in tissue homeostasis and inflammatory/infectious disease. The group collaborates widely nationally and internationally.
The Research Fellow is responsible for performing a range of research-related activities in support and delivery of outcomes. This position will involve using tumour xenograft animal models to understand the interaction between tumour cells and innate immune cells. Genetic manipulations will be used to explore the mechanism of tumour/leukocyte interactions for enhanced anti-tumour outcomes from cellular immunotherapies for solid tumours.
This position may also involve administrative, financial and other activities associated with the research program including management responsibility for technical, administrative and non-professional staff.
Ideally we are seeking someone with a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a closely related field and someone with demonstrated experience in any of the following areas:
