Research Fellow, IPHW and HSC
£35,333 – £42,155 per annum

The School of Health and Social Care and the Institute of Public Health and Wellbeing seek to appoint a full-time Research Fellow to start from January 2023, or soon thereafter.

This is a co-funded post between the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East of England (ARC EoE ) and the University of Essex. The aim of the ARC EoE is to support applied health and care research, implementation and capacity building at a local, regional, national and international level.
 

The successful candidate will join a regional cohort of postdocs in applied dementia research from our ARC East of England, based at our partner universities. This regional cohort, in turn, will be part of a national cohort of postdocs. Read more about the funding award here . This is an excellent opportunity to develop the next generation of applied dementia researchers.

You will develop research objectives and proposals to establish their own high quality research project or programme of research within the ARC EoE Ageing and Multimorbidity Theme using and creating further networks, identify appropriate sources of external funding, write and contribute to bids for research and/or enterprise relation work working together with the PI and other researchers and use new research techniques and research methods and use initiative to create and identify area of research.

About you

To be successful, you will hold a relevant doctoral level degree in health and social care-related field or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD and have evidence of a developing research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile.

A commitment to research aligning with the foci of the EOE ARC Applied Dementia Research (ADR) theme and with the themes of ageing and multimorbidity in general and excellent time management and organisational skills are essential for this post.

School of Health and Social Care

The School has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. Our academic members of staff include health policy, services and systems researchers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners, psychologists, and sociologists. The school is run over two campuses: Southend and Colchester. Academic staff are supported by a team of administrative staff based at both Colchester and Southend campuses. The school is currently going through exciting changes and expansion, with an increase in student numbers.
