**The post is open only to current employees within the School of Design**

Are you an ambitious researcher with experience of polymer processing and nonwoven fabric manufacturing for industrial applications? Are you interested in combining aspects of polymer and fibre processing in the design of new fibrous products?

Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, you will design, manufacture and evaluate new nonwoven materials for consumer, industrial and healthcare products. The research will involve the experimental preparation, polymer processing and manufacture of nonwoven fabrics, with extensive physical and structure-property characterisation of resulting materials.

As a successful applicant, you will join the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC), a collaborative, multi-disciplinary research institute addressing global challenges in colour, fashion and textiles through research and innovation, as well as teaching. We are particularly focused on the development of innovative science and technology, materials, methods and processes. Technology-driven sustainable development is a major part of our work, hosted by the School of Design at the University of Leeds. The School of Design is a world leading research centre with a focus in creativity and developing innovative materials and manufacturing solutions with interdisciplinary researchers and industrial partners. You will join an experienced, innovative and diverse team and will be actively involved in research, producing high quality publications and contributing to the School’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).

With a PhD in textile technology and an MSc/BSc in Textile Science or Technology, you will have research experience of engineering and evaluating textile materials for different applications and expertise in textile characterisation methods. You will have proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and independently.
