Research Fellow in Sustainable Food Systems

The purpose of the post is to manage and deliver the requirements of an international European research project into sustainable food systems, ranging from production to consumption. The post will support the lead investigator in the delivery of the work package Work Package 5 “Leverage points in the agri-food system” and deliver research in a number of case studies in the UK.

The prospective candidate for this position should have excellent skills in empirical social research, with a specific interest in the behaviour and attitudes of food producers (farmers, growers), value chain actors (processors, manufacturers, retailers) and policy makers. Experience in participatory processes involving a range of stakeholders from farmers to policy makers is essential. The candidate should be familiar with systems thinking approaches, comparative case study design, and synthesising data generated with different research methods. It is expected that the candidate holds a PhD in a related topic to the above themes.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 6, £35,333 – £42,155 with placement according to qualifications and experience. As this is a project limited role it is only available for three years.
